| Résumé : |
Deposition cycle and vertebrates from a little known formation of the Paris Basin, the Sables de Bourguillemont unit (Oise, France) (Upper Paleocene). The Sables de Bourguillemont (Thanetian), associated with the overlying carbonates, appear as a complete sequence. Vertebrates are cited for the first time from the eponymous locality of this formation. Vertebrate remains are represented by teeth, vertebrae, and scales. These fossils have permitted the identification of 10 elasmobranch taxa (Carcharias hopei (Agassiz, 1843), Striatolamia striata (Winkler, 1874), Anomotodon aff. novus (Winkler, 1874), Palaeohypotodus rutoti (Winkler, 1874), Physogaleus secundus (Winkler, 1874), Palaeogaleus vincenti (Daimeries, 1888), Megasqualus orpiensis (Winkler, 1874), Squatina sp., Myliobatis sp., Burnhamia sp.), five actinopterygian taxa (Lepisosteidae gen. et sp. indet. and four indeterminate Teleostei) and a small crocodile. These data confirm the position of the Sables de Bourguillemont within the upper Thanetian. |
