| Résumé : |
The preset book called "Development of Vertebrates" is primarily written for premedical students and zoology majors who have completed a course in general biology.
Therefore, it aims at the presentation of development concepts on an advanced basis, while introducing the subject matter of vertebrate embryology.
Research methods are considered to the extent required for the understanding of the results of important investigative work.
The system of analytical staging employed in this book is furthermore intended to relieve the memory of students by making the book an easily usable guide to factual information.
The goal of an introductory course in embryology, toward which also this book aims to contribute, is a realization, by the student, that the development is a natural process which is open to scientific analysis by research methods not essentially different from those of the inorganic sciences.
A great care was given to the illustration of this book, since the teaching methods necessitates a liberal use of well labeled pictures.
It was decided not to employ a standard pattern of reproduction, but make use of different suitable techniques, from photography to line drawing.
The new figures were prepared by the author, often assisted by students and assistants.
This book includes 30 chapters divided into seven main sections, which are:
I. Introduction
II. Multiplication and maturation of Germ Cells
III. The start of Ontogenesis
IV. Amphibians
V. Fishes
VI. Birds
VII. mammals. |
