This volume contains the papers presented at the 6th international meeting on organic geochemistry, held at the main auditorium of the institut Français du pétrole, in Rueil-Malmaison, France, on september 18-21, 1973. The meeting was co-sponsored by the international association of geochemistry and cosmochemistry (represented by its vice-president, V.V. shcherbina) and the organic geochemistry division of the geochemical society (represented by its Chairman, P.H. Given).
The organizing committee was comprised of MM. B. Tissot (Chairman),
A.combaz, J.J. Fripiat, J. Goni, G.Ourisson and F. Bienner (secretary). They gratefully acknowledge the generous financial support received from:
deutsche gesellschaft fur mineralolwissenschaft und kohlechemie (DGMK)
elf - recherche exploration esso-REP
eurafrep
preussag AG
societe francaise des pétroles BP
société nationale des pétroles d'aquitaine (SNPA)
and the financial support and assistance in organizing the meeting received from:
bureau de recherches géologiques et minières (BRGM)
compagnie française des pétroles total
institut français du pétrole
In the present volume the papers are grouped by session. In addition to the papers presented, the discussions are also included in the language in which they were delivered.
Social events included the usual ice-breaking party, a banquet on a boat ("bateau-mouche") on the Seine river, and a ladies program. Free discussions were encouraged among the participants. A post-meeting excursion took the delegates to quincy, where they could appreciate the very special quincyite rock, as well as the local food and wine.
The present book is dedicated to the memory of Marcel Louis, who was a pioneer in organic geochemistry in Europe. He could not join us because he was seriously ill, and he died a few days after the meeting, on october 2, 1973. |
