| Résumé : |
A great variety of bond types are encountered in the minerals, rocks, soil and waters of our planet, an a survey-review of all the work which has been undertaken on the geochemical significance of the nature of the chemical bond in all these materials, and in a variety of geological situations, is an enormous task and it is not proposed to cover all aspects of the problem. Instead, several major topics which have been selected are:
o Chemical interness and siderophile tendency.
o Chalcophile- lithophile tendencies.
o The significance of varying degrees of covalence on element association in silicates.
The problem of providing a really sound and fully adequate theory of the Goldschmidt classification based essentially on bond type is large, but distinct progress has been made and it will b the main purpose here to review under the three major headings work which has been undertaken along these lines.
Before so doing the author will consider certain forces associated with atoms, together with other atomic properties, which appear to control the nature of the chemical bond; it will be also considered some measured properties of compounds which may serve as a useful guide for indicating bond character. |
