| Résumé : |
The present monograph aims to introduce the reader to the recent advances made in the field. A full treatment of the main problems which now face the chemical embryologist is entirely outside the scope of the present small book: such a long and important task would mean an almost complete re-writing of our previous Embroyologie chimique.
Pending such an extensive revision, it was felt that a much shorter discussion of the main problems which now lie ahead might be useful for many advanced students and teachers, especially since there has been no text-book in Chemical Embryology for almost 10 years.
In fact, the material presented in this monograph is essentially the subject of the author's lectures to advanced students who are familiar with is Embryologie chimique; it is a brief summary of the many advances made in the field which is becoming more and more active again.
The general plan of the book remains, in broad case, that of the Embryologie Chimique: development will be followed, as is natural, from the formation of the gametes to the differentiation of specialized organs such as lens or muscles.
The accent, of course, is always placed on the more biochemical aspects of embryonic development.
This monograph is also a development of certain chapters of the author's more recent Biochemical Cytology: the reader of this book will find unavoidable repetitions; the emphasis, in the present monograph is, however, continuously on the egg and the embryo.
Most of the papers cited in the present monograph are either review articles or recent publications, in which references to older work can easily be found.
This book is divided into seven chapters:
1- Gametogenesis
2- Fertilization
3- Cleavage
4- Chemical embryology of invertebrate eggs
5- Chemical embryology of vertebrate eggs
6- Biochemical interactions between the nucleus and the cytoplasm during morphogenesis
7- The biochemistry of differentiation. |
