| Résumé : |
Contributions from environmental scientists, environmental consultants and research workers are presented in this volume providing an up-to-date insight into the current, serious problem of acid rain. The incidence and effects of the phenomenon, as well as certain remedies, are discussed at length. The roles of vehicles and power stations are examined in detail and legal aspects of curbing the acid rain phenomenon are considered. This volume demonstrates that the acid rain problem represents a grave ecological and health risk for which remedies are urgently required; it is an invaluable guide for policy makers and researchers alike in the fast moving field of environmental science. |

| Résumé : |
PCBs (polychlorobiphenyls) are measured in most environmental analytical laboratories in a variety of matrices and have long been one of the most energetically researched groups of organic contaminants. However, understanding the composition of commercial PCB mixtures has been challenging environmental chemists for over twenty-five years.
This volume represents the first compilation of papers on the significant analytical advances made over past years in research into the chemistry of PCBs and their implications for the environment. Twenty-four contributions from current specialists in the field are included, covering all essential aspects of the analytical chemistry of PCBs. This work represents the state of the art in the field and will be an invaluable source of information for industrial, institutional and regulatory agency laboratories involved in planning or carrying out environmental research and monitoring activities. |
