The aim of this book is to provide a general background of biological knowledge for all who may encounter the Crustacea.
Those aspects of biology which concern the whole animal are dealt with, and the topics covered include feeding mechanisms, respiratory pigments, color change, growth, parasitism, and an account of the geographical distribution of Crustacea with particular emphasis on ecological factors.
Technicalities are kept to a minimum, nevertheless some of the most recent advances in the study of Crustacea have been included, and references list at the end of each chapter provide an introduction to the extensive literature which can be examined by those who wish to make more detailed study. |
