Index. décimale : 551.79 Ere quaternaire Résumé : This study aims to analyze the dynamics of land use change along the eastern Algerian coast?line over a ten-year period (2014–2024), using satellite imagery (Sentinel-2) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The focus was placed on the first coastal strip extending 1000 meters inland, in accordance with the provisions of Law 02-02 on coastal protection.The results revealed a significant expansion of built-up areas, mostly at the expense of vegeta?tion, agricultural lands, and sandy zones. Forest fires, particularly those of 2021, greatly con?tributed to the degradation of natural cover in provinces such as Béjaïa and Tizi Ouzou. Conversely, provinces like Boumerdas and Annaba are experiencing rapid urbanization and coastal development projects, reflecting increasing human pressure on coastal spaces. These transformations highlight the urgent need to adopt integrated and sustainable coastal manage?ment policies to balance development with the protection of natural resources.
